Groups of cells are joined and form complex beings that form habits that benefit continued existence. What then constitutes the leap that is abstract thinking? The spark of knowledge is not a single set of truths but an unfolding of continuously linked truths. As far as our abstract intellect takes us, our lives are still influenced by ancient patterns and changing circumstance. Feelings collide with facts. The subconscious influences perception. Reality confronts what we imagine. Sensation battles with reason. Reason combines with emotion. Emotion reacts to circumstance. Combining and recombining in a pattern too large for us to chart. To think beyond the needs of daily existence is our gift. To feel connection in a larger pattern is our miracle.
